Installing Adobe Digital Editions (Windows 7, 8 & 10)

The Adobe Digital Editions application allows you to open ebooks and to transfer them onto your reading device.

Warning: The following instructions will install the latest version of Adobe Digital Editions (4). If Adobe Digital Editions is already installed on your computer, you can check which version is currently installed and upgrade it to version 4, if applicable.

There may be issues affecting some Kobo e-readers when they are used with Adobe Digital Editions version 4 and later. When transferring an ebook from the Adobe Digital Editions library to the Kobo e-reader, you may receive an error message stating that the file cannot be opened because of an authentication issue. If this is your case, we recommend that you uninstall Adobe Digital Editions and then install version 3.0.

  1. Go to http://www.adobe.com/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html

  2. Click Windows to download the application.

Windows may ask you to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 before continuing the installation. If so, install the component before restarting the installation.

  6. If this is your very first Adobe Digital Editions installation, a Get Norton Security Scan window will pop up. To avoid installing this unsolicited application, disable the Include Norton Security Scan checkbox before clicking on Next.

If you are updating Adobe Digital Editions, you will be redirected to point 7.

  7. When the installation is complete, click Close to close the installation program. Adobe Digital Editions will start automatically.

  8. In Adobe Digital Editions, click the Help menu, then click Authorize Computer.
